Leading heat pump technology for the coldest conditions
Our leading heat pump is engineered with Lennox' most advanced cold climate technology, using a variable-speed compressor with Electronic Refrigerant Injection (ERI) to adjust the energy usage based on the outside temperature. In colder temperatures, the ERI increases heating output efficiently, providing the warm, rich comfort of a gas furnace with the efficiency of a heat pump.
The perfect amount of quiet
To reduce operating sound levels, the SL22KLV uses a sound-dampening system with a precision-balanced, direct-drive fan to ensure smooth, quiet operation. This lets it operate at a volume as quiet as 58 dB, or the sound of a microwave.
Digitally intelligent for accuracy and efficiency
This truly digital product is designed to pair with the Lennox S40 Smart Thermostat as part of a fully communicating home comfort system. Sensors in the equipment allow the thermostat to diagnose issues and automatically make system adjustments to more accurately and efficiently maintain temperature, humidity and air quality.

Steady temperature control and very quiet
July 23, 2025Since our heat pump, matching air handler and smart thermostat work as one unit, the 5 star rating is for all three working together. Our previous Lennox heat pump worked well for 18 years and then failed during a day that was over 100 degrees. A lot has changed in 18 years, technologically. The previous unit operated in cycles of very cold air blasted into the house. Then it would shut down and the house would warm up until it hit the set temperature. By contrast, the new unit seems to run continuously and the temperature holds very steady all day. It is very quiet and runs unnoticed most of the time. A very big improvement and deserving 5 stars. The new unit is more energy efficient and I assume that even though it is running continuously it consumes less electricity. That needs to be confirmed. Currently, with unlimited sunshine, our solar panels provide all the power and the only monthly bill is for the meter itself. Haven't been tracking the solar output lately. Will this unit last 18 years too? Looking at the inside the heat pump reveals a very robust design. Our previous heat pump looked like a toy by comparison. Given performance thus far and the build of the units, the cost is reasonable. Reliability is unknown at this point, but the engineering looks very promising. This unit also uses the latest refrigerant and that is a plus as well.
